Optometrics, a Dynasil Company, is seeking reliable Manufacturing Operations Manager for its Ayer, MA facility.

 

Summary 

The Manufacturing Operations Manager is a highly organized, hands-on and persuasive leader. Knowledgeable in thin film coating, optical component production processes and quality as well as production management techniques. This person upholds the responsive culture of Optometrics through insistence on thorough and exemplary participation in the process discipline systems. A skilled administrator who is comfortable in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment, who brings order through consistent application of World Class Manufacturing and Lean Manufacturing methodology. The Operations Manager earns the respect of the workforce via steadfast adherence to key principlesinnovative problem-solving and is capable of driving process improvements to improve yields and driving complexity reduction efforts. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Manages all manufacturing operations of Optometrics in a manner to assure optimum manufacturing efficiency and customer satisfaction 
  • Experience reading and managing to a Profit and Loss statement 
  • Consistently exceeds customer expectations (including On-Time Delivery and Return Rate metrics)  \
  • Champion of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system  
  • Yield Improvement metrics  
  • Upholds Quality system and processes 
  • Upholds all workplace safety standards for employees and machinery 
  • Responsible for weekly/monthly revenue forecast 

Skills and Abilities 

  • Leadership Experience including: 
    • Hands-on supervisory skills 
    • Recruiting, hiring and training manufacturing employees 
    • Discipline/termination of employees 
    • Performance Review/Management process 
  • Problem-solving  
  • Optical and/or Industrial engineering  
  • World Class Manufacturing methodology and implementation  
  • Lean Manufacturing process design and implementation  
  • Quality processes and auditing  
  • Optical or thin film coating processes, techniques and equipment  
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills 
  • Knowledge of process discipline and improvement 
  • Ability to set long-term goals and communicate them to others 
  • Ability to motivate and organize multiple efforts to accomplish company goals 

Education, Experience, and Knowledge 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Optics/Industrial Engineering 
  • Minimum of 5 years prior supervisory experience in a high-tech production environment 

Reporting Structure 

  • Reports to the General Manager 
  • Sits on the Senior Management Team 
  • Sits on the Annual Planning Team
