We produce a variety of high quality scintillation detectors. These employ scintillation crystals that convert X-rays or Gamma rays into light pulses which are subsequently detected by either a photomultiplier tube (PMT) or a photodiode (SiPM). Produced in custom sizes, these are typically housed in lightweight, hermetically sealed aluminium casings.
The range of materials include Thallium activated Sodium Iodide, NaI(Tl); Thallium activated Caesium Iodide, CsI(Tl); Zinc Tungstate, ZnWO4; Bismuth Germanate, Bi4Ge3O12; Europium activated Calcium Fluoride, CaF2(Eu). Further details are available in our Materials Index.
Applications range from medical assays, thickness gauging in the steel industry, nuclear industrial monitoring applications to detecting rare radioactive decay events measured in underground caverns. Special ruggedised variants for geologging in the oil and gas industries are also available. Custom constructions are available in terms of geometry and construction materials. Complete integral assemblies can be supplied from 5mm to 200mm in size.
